Job Description

The Marketing Manager is a hands‑on role responsible for developing, executing and optimizing marketing campaigns to drive audience and revenue growth for IBJ Media and its family of brands, including the Indianapolis Business Journal, Inside INdiana Business, the Indiana Lawyer, the IBJ Media Podcast Network and more than 50 events annually. This position owns campaigns from concept through execution, including measurement and optimization.

Responsibilities

Campaign Development and Execution
  • Collaborate with a cross‑functional team to develop, schedule, execute and measure marketing for events, subscriptions and other company initiatives.
  • Develop and execute integrated campaigns that drive growth across subscriptions, events, newsletters, podcasts, products and other initiatives.
  • Develop campaign briefs defining objectives, audiences, messages, deliverables, timelines and success measures to guide shared design and technical resources.
  • Serve as the company wide project manager for all campaigns, establishing clear deadlines and ensuring all campaigns reflect the highest quality and accuracy.
  • Develop and manage schedules, tasks, dependencies and approvals in Asana.
Copywriting and Creative Development
  • Serve as the primary writer for all IBJ Media marketing campaigns, including subscription advertising, event promotions, email, ads (print, digital and broadcast), websites, landing pages, social media and press releases.
  • Review and improve existing campaign creative and copy to strengthen clarity, relevance and improve results.
  • Proofread marketing materials for accuracy, consistency and brand alignment.
Email and Website Marketing
  • Develop and implement audience segmentation, testing and optimization strategies to create email and digital campaigns to fuel growth.
  • Make routine edits to promotional email and web copy, templates, images, links, buttons and formatting using basic HTML and CSS when needed.
  • Review pages for accuracy, usability, responsiveness and conversion effectiveness.
Performance Analysis and Optimization
  • Establish campaign goals, deadlines and key performance indicators before launch.
  • Monitor, analyze and optimize performance across email, web, paid media, social media, newsletters, print and broadcast.
  • Prepare concise reports outlining results, insights and recommendations.
Paid, Social and Production Support
  • Plan, execute and optimize paid and organic campaigns on social media.
  • Manage targeting, budgets, placements, copy and creative variations.
  • Write and schedule social media content across multiple channels and brands.
Measures of Success
  • Subscription acquisition and conversion
  • Event registrations, ticket sales and revenue
  • Newsletter and podcast audience growth
  • Email and landing‑page conversion (nominations, purchases, etc.)
  • Paid‑media efficiency and return on advertising spend
  • Quality and effectiveness of marketing copy and campaign concepts
  • Timely and accurate execution
Requirements
  • Exceptional marketing copywriting, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to write persuasive copy across email, print, digital, web, broadcast and social media.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work based on business value, impact and timing.
  • Experience developing and executing campaigns tied to measurable audience and revenue outcomes on Linked In and other social media platforms.
  • Experience with email marketing platforms;
    Delivra experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS for minor email and website edits.
  • Experience with campaign analysis, testing and optimization.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and project‑management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with shared creative and technical partners.
  • Proven ability to anticipate challenges, resolve issues and keep campaigns moving.
  • Experience with Asana, Buffer, Canva and Adobe preferred.
Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, journalism or a related field preferred.
  • Four or more years of hands‑on marketing experience with a demonstrated ability to translate business priorities into campaign goals, target audiences, value propositions, offers, calls to action and channel plans.
