Overview
Bon Appetit Food Sustainability Fellow
Salary: $57,000 - $59,000
Bon Appetit Management Company is committed to great food and outstanding service. We operate in contract food service and value creativity, ongoing learning, and staff growth. This position is eligible for an Employee Referral Bonus.
Responsibilities- Visit cafés within the assigned region and facilitate plans to engage the community and culinary teams in discussions about social and environmental issues in the food system.
- Work with a flexible calendar to schedule campus visits that fit each Fellow’s interaction style and interests, including classroom visits, farm visits, presentations, and student group meetings.
- Undertake special projects to advance sustainability commitments and initiatives (local purchasing, waste reduction, campus farms and gardens, plant-forward commitments).
- Write and edit communications materials, including blog posts, social media posts, and articles about activities hosted on campus visits and other initiatives; create marketing materials and presentations in Canva to host and promote events.
- 4-year college degree in Environmental Science, Public Health, Communications, Hospitality, Wellness and Nutrition, or related area; or a 4-year degree in another area with strong experience in food systems, sustainability, or related fields.
- Past attendance at a college or university where Bon Appétit managed the food is required.
- Strong track record of interest and experience in sustainable food and agriculture issues.
- Knowledge of environmental, social, and public health issues related to food and agriculture.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including comfort speaking publicly.
- Self-starter with ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to think critically and handle unique challenges as they arise.
- Ability to travel up to 80% of the time and work independently from home when not traveling; flexible schedule including occasional evenings and weekends.
