Mission Staff Summary
Mission / Authority:
Through both training and direct field ministry experience, learn how to lead and participate in effective Young Life ministry.
This position is intended for a local person who is currently engaged with the ministry. This individual will also be part of the Next Gen Leadership cohort, which involves travel and additional training.
Ministry Functions- Spiritual Development – Foster spiritual growth through prayer, fellowship, health, and church relationships. Develop a yearly personal growth plan that includes solitude, retreat, reflection, and a commitment to understanding God’s Word. Lead teams and individuals in spiritual development.
- Leadership Development – Equip leaders, committees, and staff with volunteer care, recruiting, team building, training, supervision, and vision casting. Meet with volunteer leaders and area leadership regularly. Recruits and trains new leaders to build a community‑reflective leadership team.
- Resource Development – Raise financial support, care for major donors, handle public relations and branding, and assist TDS team. Communicate ministry updates to donor partners and develop strategic relationships with community adults.
- Direct Ministry – Proclaim and model Jesus through contact work, club, Campaigners, and camp activities. Lead a team to plan and conduct a new or existing Young Life club and Campaigners/discipleship ministry. Implement summer and school‑season camping strategies and serve on a summer assignment annually.
- Ministry Support – Manage accounting, administration, communication, data management, and strategic planning. Adhere to all Young Life policies, maintain professionalism in office hours, dress, conduct, and time management. Maintain accurate records of kids, leaders, and donors, and provide clear, prompt, professional communication.
- Mission‑wide training:
None required; catch‑up events available with regional director approval. - Regional training:
As determined by the regional director. - Area training:
Participate in training provided by area leadership and individualized training under the area director. - Fund‑raising principles:
Introduction to basic elements for part‑time staff.
- College degree preferred.
- Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Faith Commitment:
Profess belief in Jesus Christ as personal Savior and lord, and subscribe to Young Life’s Statement of Faith and all related policies.
