Sisters of the Holy Cross, Inc. is seeking a full-time exempt Assistant Director of Holy Cross Justice Collaborative.

This onsite position is in Notre Dame, Indiana and will require some domestic and international travel.

Main Function

The Assistant Director of the Holy Cross Justice Collaborative advances the mission of justice, peace, and the integrity of creation by partnering with the Director to develop, implement, and strengthen programs, communications, and collaborative initiatives that serve both the Sisters of the Holy Cross Justice Office and the Holy Cross Justice Collaborative. Working closely with the Director, the Assistant Director translates strategic priorities into meaningful action through program leadership, resource development, relationship building, and operational support.

The Assistant Director fosters collaboration across the global Family of Holy Cross and helps ensure that justice initiatives are mission-driven, effectively implemented, and responsive to emerging needs.

Essential Functions Program Development & Implementation

Assist the Director in:

  • Coordinate justice programs, formation opportunities, meetings, events, and international gatherings from planning through evaluation.
  • Manage project timelines, logistics, and implementation to ensure successful execution of strategic priorities.
  • Support service, immersion, pilgrimage, and experiential learning opportunities that foster justice leadership and engagement.
Justice Programming for the Sisters of the Holy Cross
  • Coordinate justice education, formation opportunities, and congregation-wide initiatives.
  • Develop resources and communications that respond to emerging justice priorities and encourage participation.
  • Collaborate with Sisters, ministries, and partners to advance Congregational justice priorities.
Holy Cross Justice Collaborative Support
  • Support the work of the Congregation Justice Committee, JPIC Collaborators Committee, and other collaborative initiatives.
  • Coordinate communications, meetings, international gatherings, and collaborative projects across the Family of Holy Cross.
  • Foster communication, shared learning, and collaboration among justice leaders and partners.
Communications & Storytelling
  • Develop and manage newsletters, website content, social media, publications, and promotional materials.
  • Create educational resources, presentations, and digital content that communicate the impact of justice initiatives.
  • Support strategic communications that increase engagement and strengthen awareness across the global Family of Holy Cross.
Formation & Educational Resource Development
  • Create educational and spiritual resources, including presentations, prayer materials, study guides, and toolkits.
  • Support justice committees, ministries, and partners through ongoing formation and resource development.
  • Research emerging justice issues and develop accessible educational materials that support the Collaborative's mission.
Relationship Building & Collaboration
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with Sisters, Brothers, Priests, ministries, associates, partners, and external organizations.
  • Support justice leaders and committees through communication, accompaniment, and collaboration.
  • Represent the Holy Cross Justice Collaborative at meetings, conferences, and partner gatherings as assigned.
Administrative & Operational Support
  • Coordinating calendars, meetings, and project schedules.
  • Preparing agendas, minutes, and follow-up documentation.
  • Monitoring project timelines and organizational priorities.
  • Assisting with budget tracking.
  • Maintaining databases, records, and reporting systems.
  • Supporting evaluation, assessment, and reporting on programs and initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications Education
  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred in theology, ministry, nonprofit leadership, education, social sciences, international development, communications, or a related field.
Experience
  • Minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in nonprofit leadership, ministry, education, justice work, communications, or project management.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience developing educational resources, communications, or formation programs preferred.
  • Experience working in multicultural or international settings is desirable.

  • Commitment to Catholic Social Teaching and the mission and values of the Congregations of Holy Cross.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across diverse communities and cultures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, virtual meeting platforms, and the ability to learn new technologies.
  • Excellent judgment, discretion, flexibility, and problem-solving skills.
