Position: Registered Nurse (RN) | Methodist University | Heart Failure Coordinator | Full Time Days
Location: Indianapolis

Overview

The Heart Failure Program Coordinator provides professional, clinical nursing, and technical knowledge, skills, and expertise for the development and continuous improvement of comprehensive cardiac and/or heart failure patient care. The role involves researching, developing, and applying evidence‑based practice in clinical care and patient and staff education, as well as managing data to identify patterns, benchmark best practices, and drive quality improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical expertise to evaluate cardiac patients, heart‑failure protocols, and associated data collection systems to support effective patient care delivery.
  • Coordinate with healthcare staff to identify and diagnose patient care problems, implement interventions, and evaluate their effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement an educational program to convey specialized knowledge and skills to staff, patients, families, and the community.
  • Coordinate cardiac care program goals using a multidisciplinary approach.
  • Act as liaison for Emergency Medical Services, facilitating collaboration, communication, education, process improvement, and case reviews.
  • Identify, plan, and participate in research related to cardiac patients.
  • Review day‑to‑day heart‑failure patients and communicate needs with the involved staff.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
  • Clinical nursing experience of 5–7 years.
  • Basic Life Support certification (American Heart Association).
  • Registered Nurse, Tennessee – Tennessee Board of Nursing.
  • Independent clinical decision‑making skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations.
  • Strong communication skills with patients of diverse developmental states.
  • Excellent organizational and teaching skills, including public speaking.
  • Experience in clinical research, data analysis, and quality improvement activities.
  • Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, and database programs; experience with SPSS or Minitab preferred.
  • Ability to establish collaborative working relationships with patients, coworkers, and the community.
Physical Demands

The position requires moderate physical activity including climbing, pushing, standing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion. The employee must be able to exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or 25 lbs. of force frequently, maintain good balance and coordination, and have close visual acuity.

Supervision

There are no direct supervisory responsibilities, but the position provides leadership for the Cardiovascular Program.
