Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant – Neurosurgery Full‑Time (Days) Indianapolis, IN

Indiana University Health Medical Group is hiring a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Neurosurgery department at Goodman Hall and Methodist Hospital. This hybrid role offers full‑spectrum involvement across pre‑operative, intra‑operative, and post‑operative care in both inpatient and outpatient settings across three IU Health locations. The position is 100% onsite and provides an opportunity to work closely with highly instructional neurosurgeons committed to teaching and collaboration.

  • Hours discussed during interview
  • Rotating hours, self‑scheduling by APPs
• Team includes 17 physicians and 30 APPs

Procedures

• First assist in the OR for spine procedures
• Simple wound closure after drain removal
• Lumbar puncture
• Shunt taps
• Inpatient and outpatient care
• ICU

Key Responsibilities

• First assist in OR
• Evaluate new and follow‑up consults, either in ED or on inpatient units
• Evaluate patients with neurologic changes, inpatient care and discharges

Qualifications

• PA or ACNP certification required
• Preference for PA; NP candidates must have registered nurse first assist
• New graduate considered, must have 1st assist experience
• Clinical background in neurosurgery, neurology, trauma, or orthopedic spine preferred
• ICU experience preferred
• Knowledge of neurological deficits and disorders preferred
