Job Description & How to Apply Below
Location: Indianapolis

Ghost Rx Inc. is seeking a full-time Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to support the Same Day Surgery unit at the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis, Indiana — the flagship VA hospital for Veteran Health Indiana and a five-star-rated facility serving tens of thousands of enrolled veterans across the state. As a CNA on the Ghost Rx team, you will work under the direct supervision of Registered Nurses in the pre-operative and post-anesthesia recovery areas, helping prepare veterans for ambulatory and outpatient surgical procedures and supporting their safe, comfortable recovery once their procedure is complete.

This is a fast-paced, daytime-focused role at the heart of the surgical patient experience: you will greet patients on the morning of surgery, assist with intake and preparation, monitor and record vital signs, support patient mobility and comfort, and help keep the unit running smoothly so that each veteran moves efficiently from check-in through recovery and discharge. Same Day Surgery offers a predictable Monday-through-Friday day schedule with no nights, weekends, or holidays — a strong fit for clinicians who want meaningful hospital work and a stable lifestyle.

Ghost Rx is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) staffing partner committed to placing skilled clinical professionals into mission-critical federal roles, and we offer a competitive compensation package, full benefits, paid time off, and the stability that comes with long-term federal contract work. Beyond the work itself, Indianapolis offers an outstanding quality of life for healthcare professionals: a low cost of living for a major metro, a walkable and revitalized downtown, a thriving food and craft-brewing scene, professional sports including the Colts and Pacers, the world-famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and easy access to parks, trails, and the White River.

Family-friendly suburbs such as Carmel, Fishers, Greenwood, Avon, and Brownsburg are all within a short commute, making the Indianapolis area a great place to live and build a career while serving the men and women who have served our country.

  • Current, active certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the State of Indiana, or eligibility to certify in Indiana, in good standing
  • Completion of a state-approved nursing assistant training program
  • Minimum of 1 year of CNA experience in a hospital, surgical services, pre-op/PACU, or acute care setting strongly preferred
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
  • Working knowledge of vital signs measurement, infection-control practices, and standard patient-care procedures
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced perioperative environment with frequent patient turnover
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) documentation; experience with VA systems (CPRS) a plus
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with veterans, families, nurses, and surgical providers
  • U.S. citizenship required (per VA contract terms); must have resided in the United States continuously for the previous 3 years
  • Must successfully pass a federal background investigation, pre-employment drug screen, and pre-employment physical examination
  • Required to receive the annual seasonal influenza vaccination per VA health care personnel policy (or approved medical/religious exemption)

Responsibilities
  • Prepare the Same Day Surgery unit and pre-operative bays for each day’s surgical schedule, ensuring rooms are stocked, clean, and ready for patient arrival
  • Greet and welcome veterans and their families on the morning of surgery, helping them feel informed and at ease
