Position: Copy of Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant
Location: Austin

Principal Functions

The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing primary healthcare and education to WCCH patients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs physical examination, diagnosis and management of illness in conjunction with the Physician.
  • Performs obstetrician physicals and weekly checks, sexually transmitted disease (STD) exams, breast exams, and pelvic exams, monitoring changes and maintaining accurate files.
  • Reviews diagnostic procedures and lab tests including entering lab results, sexually transmitted disease (STD) and Pap Smear results into a computer and notifies patients of results, as required.
  • Reviews x-ray and laboratory findings, as needed.
  • Consults with office staff and other health care professionals regarding patient care, as needed.
  • Educates patients, including instructing teens, on new forms of birth control, types of birth control and sexually transmitted diseases (STD) and counsel's adult patients on Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) and osteoporosis, recommending bone density testing as appropriate.
  • Addresses and documents completion of required performance measures to include patient education, appropriate testing and review of patient history and treatment.
  • Assists in developing short-term and long-term health care goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the plans and programs directed toward their achievement.
  • Assists in implementing a comprehensive health education program, including the development of health education materials for patients.
  • Serves on-call for emergencies on a rotational basis.
Education and/or Experience

Master’s Degree (M.A.) from a four-year college or university in family health; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Additional required licenses and certifications include:

  • Current Indiana Nurse Practitioner License.
  • Controlled Substance Registration Certificate.

No supervisory responsibilities.

Hours:

Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Paid vacation, sick, personal days and most federal holidays. Medical, Dental, Vision offered.
