Fusion Medical Staffing-Nursing is seeking a travel nurse RN operating room specialist for a 13‑week assignment in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Responsibilities
  • Prepares the operating room by ensuring all required instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are ready and functional for each surgical procedure.
  • Assists in positioning and preparing patients for surgery, addressing concerns, ensuring comfort and safety according to procedural requirements.
  • Maintains a sterile field throughout surgical procedures and adheres to infection control protocols and sterile technique.
  • Anticipates the needs of the surgical team, providing instruments, supplies, and support promptly to maintain efficient workflow.
  • Monitors the patient's condition during surgery, documenting significant changes and notifying the surgeon.
  • Handles surgical instruments and supplies, ensuring proper use, sterilization, and disposal according to facility protocols.
  • Manages specimen collection, labeling, and transport according to facility protocols, ensuring accurate diagnostic results.
  • Documents all aspects of patient care in the perioperative setting accurately and thoroughly.
  • Participates in patient handoff communication during pre‑ and post‑operative phases, ensuring continuity of care.
  • Assists in cleaning and restocking the operating room between cases, adhering to infection control and turnover protocols.
  • Collaborates with the surgical team to ensure compliance with facility policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Follows hospital safety rules and procedures, including proper use of PPE and infection prevention measures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.
Required Qualifications
  • One year of recent experience as an Operating Room RN.
  • Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations.
  • Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC).
Preferred Qualifications
  • ACLS (AHA/ARC), PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC certifications.
  • OR Nursing Certification (CNOR).
  • Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position.

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills.
  • Physical abilities – must be able to remain in a stationary position, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, and bend.
  • Interpersonal skills – must work effectively with a variety of personnel, presenting a positive attitude and professionalism.
  • Technical/motor skills – grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment.
  • Mental requirements – cope with frequent contact with the public and customers under pressure, work under supervision or independently, handle irregular schedules, maintain concentration to detail.
  • Sensory – possess visual acuity and ability to effectively communicate.

Employment  & Compensation
