We are currently recruiting a Registered Nurse for Surgery Scheduling (in‑office position) to join us in Indianapolis, IN
. This is a part‑time position available on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
- Schedule office and hospital‑based medical procedures for patients, ensuring appropriate provider and time/location slot and utilizing appropriate scheduling code.
- Schedule diagnostic and imaging tests, maximizing time efficiency.
- Interface with vendor staff to ensure all necessary equipment is on site for office and hospital‑based procedures, including scheduling with contracted anesthesia groups.
- Interface with hospital staff to ensure cohesive working relationships in patient care.
- Enter notes and special instructions needed for scheduling in the electronic medical record.
- Use clinical knowledge to determine appointment consistency with the diagnosis or indications indicated by the provider.
- Complete accurate documentation of informed consent with patients for procedures and surgeries as needed.
- Provide patients with detailed information regarding test preparations, estimated arrival time, and other directional information; respond to patient questions promptly.
- Confirm patient’s insurance provider and obtain or communicate the need for prior authorization to appropriate parties.
- Ensure patients have proper medical clearance and pre‑surgical testing as needed.
- Complete pre‑procedure phone calls and confirm appointment times with patients via telephone.
- Ensure completion of advance directive assessment, including DNR when applicable.
- Review discharge instructions with patients and schedule proper follow‑up appointments at the time of the procedure.
- Perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that prioritizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical or health care errors.
- Assist other department members as needed.
- Complete FMLA/Disability paperwork.
Qualified candidates will have at least one year of experience as a Registered Nurse, preferably in an OB/GYN setting, and a degree from an accredited nursing program. Candidates must hold a current Indiana certification as a Registered Nurse and CPR certification. Knowledge of CPT coding, lab‑specific order sets, and eCW is beneficial.
