Nurse Educator
Location: On-site at Methodist Hospital
Position: RN Educator – Neuro/Trauma/Ortho Service Line
Shift: Monday–Friday, Day Shift, with off-shift work including 1 weekend and 2 evenings per month

We are seeking a dedicated RN Educator to join our team at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, supporting the Neuro/Trauma/Ortho service line. This full-time role offers an exciting opportunity to influence clinical education, foster a culture of learning, and support the development of our nursing staff.
Position OverviewThe RN Educator provides essential clinical training and mentoring to nursing staff and support personnel, ensuring high-quality orientation, ongoing education, and competency development. Working closely with Nursing Professional Development Practitioners, the RN Educator leads onboarding activities, facilitates effective learning environments, and models clinical excellence in a fast-paced hospital setting. The educator plays a key role in promoting safety, quality, and professional growth, serving as a clinical expert and role model for staff.
Key Responsibilities- Lead clinical orientation sessions within the patient care environment, emphasizing safety and quality.
- Collaborate with unit-based educators to develop efficient onboarding processes that deliver high value to new hires, preceptors, patients, and team members.
- Establish and nurture relationships with new nurses, support staff, and preceptors to create exceptional onboarding experiences.
- Evaluate clinical practice and provide constructive feedback on orientee progression and competency development.
- Support and coach preceptors to enhance onboarding effectiveness.
- Maintain flexibility to work some weekends and evenings each month to support the needs of the clinical team.
- Foster a positive learning environment through deliberate practice, meaningful feedback, and ongoing professional development.
- 3-5 years of relevant clinical nursing experience.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Current CPR, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications, as specified by organizational standards.
- Knowledge of adult learning principles, regulatory requirements, and educational program management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related software applications.
- Strong interpersonal, coaching, and communication skills to foster effective learning and professional development.
