Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Stepdown RN for a 13-week travel assignment in Indianapolis, Indiana. The role offers competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, and dedicated clinical support.

Required Qualifications
  • One year of recent experience as a Stepdown RN
  • Current valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
  • Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
  • Current ACLS certification (AHA/ARC)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) certification
  • NIHSS certification
  • Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position
Summary

A Stepdown Registered Nurse provides care to patients transitioning from intensive care to medical‑surgical or general inpatient units, requiring frequent monitoring and specialized interventions.

Essential Work Functions
  • Monitors and interprets cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and telemetry data to detect abnormalities and respond appropriately
  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments focusing on cardiac care
  • Prepares equipment and assists physicians during cardiac procedures
  • Maintains awareness of safety needs of telemetry patients
  • Observes patients, records significant conditions, and notifies supervisors or physicians of cardiac status and response
  • Responds to life‑saving situations based on nursing standards and protocols for cardiac emergencies
  • Documents nursing history and physical assessment for telemetry patients
  • Initiates patient education plans focusing on cardiac health, risk factors, and lifestyle modifications
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary team for comprehensive care
  • Maintains patient confidentiality
  • Performs other duties as assigned within scope of practice
  • Adheres to safety protocols, infection control, and regulatory standards
Required Essential Skills
  • Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication
  • Proficiency in English reading, writing, and communication
  • PC proficiency and ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Physical ability: remain stationary, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push/pull, bend
  • Interpersonal skills: work effectively with diverse personnel, maintain professionalism
  • Technical/motor skills: fine manipulation, push/pull, assist procedures
  • Mental requirements: cope with high patient contact, meet deadlines under pressure, handle irregular schedules and detail orientation
