Plasma Center Registered Nurse (RN) - (Ft. Wayne Getz Rd Location

Overview

Bio Life Plasma Services is a subsidiary of Takeda Pharmaceutical Company. The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) supports plasma center operations. You report to the Plasma Center Manager (or Assistant Manager) for operational guidance and to the Center Physician for medical issues. You will determine donor eligibility and support donor safety and center quality standards in accordance with applicable regulations.

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
• Evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
• Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees, as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation by occupational health/ER is required; refer to EHS guidance for incidents.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.

• High school diploma or equivalent, or graduate from an recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state of responsibilities:
  Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA).
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Satisfactorily complete FDA-approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.
