Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Department (ED) – Bronson South Haven – PRN Variable

• Under general supervision, manage care delivery for patients in the ED, achieving quality outcomes and timely discharge using the nursing process of assessment, planning, diagnosing, implementation, and evaluation.
• Coordinate care provided by other professionals and delegate tasks to patient care assistants and universal service assistants within scope of practice.
• Provide selected aspects of physical care appropriate to patient acuity and complexity.
• Document and communicate patient response to care, resource consumption, and anticipated needs during each tour of duty.
• Utilize data from computer systems and equipment to set appropriate care plans, read and interpret vital signs, and detect deviations from normal.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans, incorporating clinical pathways, patient/family input, and evidence‑based interventions.
• Monitor effectiveness of interventions, evaluate patient response, and document progress toward expected outcomes.
• Participate in quality improvement activities and use results to initiate changes in nursing practice.
• Maintain professional competency through ongoing education, participation in peer review, and adherence to ethical and cultural considerations.
• Serve as patient advocate, communicating options, risks, and benefits of treatments and supporting informed decision‑making.
• Integrate research findings into practice and contribute to nursing committees, councils, and professional development initiatives.
• Provide leadership in a professional practice setting, attending unit staff meetings and fostering a healthy work environment.
• For Scrub RN duties: interpret procedure cards, assess case carts, ensure equipment readiness, anticipate physician needs, monitor patient status, update procedure information, educate circulators, and manage after‑hour calls for multiple services.
• For Lakeview and South Haven sites: complete Workday CBL “Swing beds” documentation and provide appropriate care for swing bed patients.
• For HDU department: perform additional on‑call requirements beyond regular scheduled hours.

• Associate degree in Nursing required (Bachelor’s degree preferred; must obtain within 8 years of hire).
• Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing for the State of Michigan.
• BLS certification required by completion of core orientation.
• Critical Care or ALS certification required for some RNs, unit‑specific.
• For Labor & Delivery and Mother/Baby/Antepartum (BMH & BBC):
  Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certification through PQF or NCC required within 6 months of completing intermediate fetal monitoring.
