Overview
The RN/Internal Agency position is a 13‑week temporary full‑time assignment supporting emergency department and other acute care units at Methodist University Hospital. The role requires a Registered Nurse to deliver specialized patient care, participate in continuous improvement, and lead within the clinical setting.
Key Responsibilities- Provide practice excellence through specialized nursing assessment, care, evaluation and education to patients and families in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Promote evidence‑based practice by using research to develop, implement and evaluate process standards such as plans of care, protocols and guidelines.
- Provide leadership excellence in the clinical practice area, modeling professional behavior and fostering an environment of growth and learning.
- Demonstrate commitment to learning excellence through ongoing professional development and clinical expertise.
- Show role clarity through professional competence, expertise and knowledge, supporting the nursing profession via role‑modeling.
- Promote cultural excellence by recognizing and appreciating cultural, ethnic, and generational diversity.
Associate’s Degree in Nursing. 1–3 years of experience in an acute‑care environment; at least two years in an acute‑care hospital setting.
Skills and Abilities- Flexible and versatile in meeting changing staffing demands.
- Analytical skills to assess complex patient conditions and develop comprehensive plans of care.
- Ability to synthesize multiple sources of information to resolve complex problems.
- Proficiency in applying technical principles, concepts and techniques central to nursing practice.

- Basic Life Support – American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support – American Heart Association
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support – American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification – American Heart Association
The Registered Nurse directs and delegates all patient care activities on nursing units.
Physical Demands- Climbing, pushing, standing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, repetitive motion.
- Ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and up to 25 lbs. of force frequently.
- Requires close visual acuity, including color, depth perception, and field of vision.
- Exposure to patient body fluids, hazardous or poisonous materials; ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
Positions require a flexible schedule according to agreed commitment level.
