American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN for a Level I Trauma hospital position requiring 3 years of OR experience and an active IN or Compact RN license.
Details- Work in the Operating Room department of a short-term acute care hospital
- Assigned to OR Core 6, covering Core 3 & 4 specialties including General Surgery, Plastics, GYN, ENT, Trauma, Neuro, Ortho, GU, and Colorectal Robotics
- Unit has an average daily census of 70-80 patients across 21 operating rooms
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts from 11:00 to 23:30
- On-call responsibilities include approximately 6 call shifts within a 6-week period, which may vary
- Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals to meet facility needs
- Circulating duties required; scrub duties preferred
- Must be well-rounded and current in most OR specialties except CV and Transplant
- Uses Cerner charting system
- Active IN or Compact RN license required in hand prior to start
- BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS preferred
- Minimum 3 years of OR RN experience required, or 2 years with at least 1 year of Level I trauma experience
- Level I Trauma experience required (hard requirement)
- Cerner charting experience preferred
- Experience with robotic surgery systems such as Da Vinci Xi preferred
- Skills in a range of surgical specialties including Gynecology, Neurology, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Urology, and ENT procedures
- Nursing degree from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation
- 2 supervisor references required for consideration
- Provide direct perioperative nursing care across a wide range of surgical specialties in a Level I Trauma teaching hospital
- Support surgical teams through circulating and scrubbing duties as needed across multiple service lines
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- Free parking available
- Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
- Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates residing within Indiana are accepted at a reduced bill rate
- Former IU Health perm or PRN employees must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Travelers who have accrued 12 months of employment within IU Health must take a designated break to reset eligibility; in-state residents require 6 months and out-of-state residents require 3 months
