Description:

A professional nurse is accountable for the care of a group of patients.

The Registered Nurse (RN) focuses on safe, effective, patient-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes.

The RN is responsible for assisting in maintaining a financially stable unit while promoting personal development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education.

The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members.

Applying the caring processes of the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care, the RN has the responsibility to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate the plan of care.

The RN emphasizes patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction.

The RN utilizes educational and professional experiences in delivering quality care and mentoring/precepting staff.

Job Responsibilities:

Assessment:
Performs assessments and reassessments per policy or as warranted by patient condition.

Demonstrates the ability to make sound independent decisions.

Development & Implementation:
Initiates, prioritizes, and implements the plan of care while reviewing and revising the plan as indicated.

Collaborates with patients/families and interdisciplinary services.

Utilizes resources appropriately to support the needs of the organization, patients, and families.

Evaluation:
Monitors and documents the response to clinical interventions.

Education:

Facilitates, coordinates, provides, and evaluates education specific to patient and family needs, as well as care, treatment, and services provided during their stay and dership:
Delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel.

Functions as a mentor/preceptor.

Demonstrates, encourages, and facilitates teamwork.

Identifies and appropriately communicates opportunities for improvement.

Participates in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts and implements practice changes.

Complies with regulatory standards and participates in the Practice Governance model.
