Department-SpecificResponsibilities
- Provides comprehensive psychiatric care in support of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) by providing comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnosing mental health conditions, developing individualized evidence-based treatment plans, prescribing and managing psychiatric medications, providing ongoing medication management, and responding to psychiatric crisis.
- Collaborates with counselors, medical providers, and other campus partners to ensure coordinated, high-quality care.
- Reviews medical and psychosocial histories, performing assessments as appropriate, interpreting clinical findings, prescribing psychopharmacologic treatment, monitoring treatment effectiveness, and maintaining accurate, timely and compliant documentation in accordance with institutional, legal and professional standards.
- Maintains comprehensive patient records, including medical histories, treatment plans, and required health documentation.
- Elicits, records, and interprets a complete health history. Performs, records, and interprets a complete physical examination.
- Selects and orders appropriate tests and procedures necessary to augment physical findings and distinguish between normal and abnormal findings. Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as necessary and appropriate for the care of the patient.
- Collaborates with the attending physician, social worker, staff nurses, private physicians, sub-specialists, other appropriate health team members to plan and coordinate care and follow-up of pediatric patients with suspected maltreatment.
- Collaborates, communicates and coordinates with child protection services, law enforcement, and prosecutors to help educate and inform them in the patient's condition and medical care plan.
- Participates in psychosocial management of patients and families.
- Takes an active role in the performance of clinical research.
- Takes an active role in the development and performance of community outreach.
Required
- Master's degree in nursing or completion of an accredited nurse practitioner program.
Required
- 2 years of nursing experience.

- Registered Nurse issued by the state of Indiana upon date of hire.
- National nurse practitioner license.
- Prescriptive authority within 90 days of hire.
- DEA license and liability insurance within 90 days of hire.

This role requires sedentary work as well as extended durations of moving about the workplace. It requires the ability to move objects and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, and the ability to discern between various objects and devices and to position patients.
