Oncology Clinical Nurse
- Ambulatory Navigator Shift: 1.0 FTE Day Shift (4 – 10 hour shifts) 6:00a-4:00p

The Oncology Clinical Nurse
- Ambulatory Navigator coordinates the care needs of assigned patients and develops comprehensive plans to manage care delivery across the patient care continuum. The role involves partnering with patients and their primary physicians to create customized care plans based on individual needs and preferences. The Navigator collaborates with physicians, nurses, health professionals, social workers, and other team members to ensure appropriate tests and treatments are delivered in a timely manner.

The role also advocates for the patient and balances care needs with financial considerations to ensure efficient and effective treatments.

Position Overview:

The Oncology Nurse Navigator manages patient care coordination by developing personalized care plans, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring timely delivery of services. This position acts as a patient advocate, supports treatment adherence, and promotes seamless communication among care providers to optimize patient outcomes. The Navigator plays a vital role in facilitating care continuity, educating patients and families, and ensuring compliance with healthcare policies and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate patient care needs across the treatment continuum through collaboration with healthcare team members.
  • Partner with patients and primary physicians to develop individualized care plans.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other health professionals to ensure timely and appropriate tests and treatments.
  • Advocate for the patient’s needs and preferences throughout the care process.
  • Balance care delivery with financial considerations to promote efficient treatment options.
  • Support patient education and provide ongoing guidance and advocacy.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of care activities and support quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Requirements:

Education:
  • Associates of Nursing (ASN) required.
  • Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Licensure &

Certifications:
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Additional advanced life support or specialty certifications may be required per department policies.
Experience &

Skills:
  • 3-5 years of clinical nursing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, medical record requirements, regulations, and policies.
  • Proficiency with personal computers, word processing, and database software.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Oncology experience Strongly Preferred
  • Case Management experience preferred
