Shift Details
: Full-time night shift, 40 hours per week. Two 8-hour weeknight shifts (7:00 pm - 3:00 am or 11:00 pm - 7:00 am) and two 12-hour weeknight shifts (7:00 pm - 7:00 am). No weekends or holidays and full benefits are included!

Ortho Indy Hospital Northwest, located in Indianapolis, Indiana,provides outpatient care and inpatient care, with 10 operating rooms, 2procedure rooms and a 42‑bed inpatient unit for patients undergoing more invasive procedures, such as disc replacement, spinal fusion or total hip andknee joint replacement. Other services include an urgent care,clinics, pre‑op clinic, imaging and physical therapy.

General Statement of Duties :

The Registered Nurse Team Lead Inpatient coordinates the activities of nursing and non‑nursing personnel, while working under the direction of the Clinical Manager and Director of Inpatient Service. The Team Lead assists with procedures, treatments, and nursing care as needed.

• Directs and assists Inpatient personnel. Recommends ways for staff to use down time productively. Assists in problem resolution and helping personnel to understand available resources. Places patient wellbeing over unit routine or personal preferences. Recognizes the need for changes in patient assignment and implements changes in a timely manner. Informs management when problems in staffing arise. Coordinates breaks and lunches while providing adequate patient coverage in staff absence.
  
  Creates schedules for all staff and identifies and notifies staff of any changes.
• Maintains knowledge of hospital policies and ensures staff compliance with all policies and procedures.
• Maintains effective communication between management and personnel.
• Monitors overall patient acuity level on the unit and reports any unusual occurrences or circumstances to appropriate manager or healthcare worker.
• Participates in annual and ongoing training, education, and development activities to improve knowledge and skills. Attends leadership specific learning opportunities to enhance skills. Maintains knowledge of equipment and supplies.
• Assists with orientation and training. Provides input into the evaluation of staff with reference to their improvement in techniques or performance.
• Monitors inventory of supplies, medications, and equipment, and reports insufficiencies to the appropriate manager.
• Support patient education and discharge planning. Distributes education materials as appropriate. Completes assigned tasks that facilitate discharge planning.
