The Mother Baby unit at Riley Maternity Services at Methodist Hospital is a 28-bed unit for patients after delivery, both for the moms and babies. While the focus for our patient’s care is obstetric, we take care of the patients as holistically as possible including taking care of our patient’s complex medical, emotional, and social needs.

We are part of a level 4 perinatal center and provide top tier care to our patients during this time in their lives. Our unit focuses on evidence-based care to ensure we are providing the best, most up to date care to our patients. Because of this, we are proud to be a World Health Organization Baby Friendly designated hospital. As a unit, we have a huge focus on “team” because just as it takes a village to raise a baby, it takes a great team to provide great care to our moms and babies!

An ideal candidate for the Mother/Baby unit would be someone who loves teamwork, loves to provide education and loves to spend time getting to know their patients and their individual needs.

• Being a Level IV perinatal center, we see a wide variety of patient populations. You learn the postpartum skill set as well as other valuable nursing skills.

• Level IV perinatal center, Inspire, Magnet recognition (like Riley), multiple Daisy nominated RNs

The unit has a strong culture of teamwork and dedication to our patients and coworkers. We have a social committee and a strong mentor program that was developed by nurses on the unit.

The Clinical Nurse reflects the mission, vision, and values of Indiana University Health, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards. The registered professional clinical nurse (RN) is accountable and responsible for the provision and coordination of competent, evidence-based care along the care continuum, which includes assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

The clinical nurse participates in decision-making, teaching, mentoring, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to advance the patient plan of care, achieve outcomes and enhance operational efficiency. The nurse adheres to the ANA Scope and Standards of Professional Nursing and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements.
