As a Groundskeeper
, you’ll play a hands‑on role in shaping the first impression for students, employees, and visitors alike - from beautifully maintained lawns and vibrant flower beds to safe walkways in every season. In this role, you’ll partner closely with the Director of Maintenance and Grounds to keep the campus looking its best year‑round. This position involves a range of outdoor responsibilities—such as landscaping, tree and shrub care, snow removal, athletic field support, and general campus upkeep.
Through this work, you contribute to making Manchester University a safe and inspiring place to work and learn.
- Maintain all outdoor campus spaces year-round, including mowing, trimming, blowing, and weed control
- Perform tree and shrub care, including pruning
- Complete snow removal duties
- Conduct general campus cleanup (litter, leaves, debris, etc.)
- Maintain flower beds and remove weeds
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license
- One or more years of groundskeeping experience preferred
- General knowledge of power tools (chain saws, mowers, hedge trimmers, string trimmers, blowers, spraying equipment)
- Experience operating riding mowers, tractors, backhoes, manual/automatic transmission trucks, and snow removal equipment (plow, broom, blower)
- Knowledge of athletic field maintenance and game day preparation preferred
- Strong communication skills and ability to follow instructions
