Senior Estimator Construction

We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled Senior Estimator to join Walbridge. In this role, you will coordinate full estimating services for all Construction Specification Institute (CSI) divisions on large, complex projects within Lump Sum, Design Build, and Construction Management contractual formats. You will interpret designs, drawings, specifications, and other contract documents, and operate across multiple delivery systems or specialize in one.

Location: You can be based on-site in Detroit, Pittsburgh, or Charlotte. Minimal travel is required.

Responsibilities:

• Proposal reviews: reviewing specifications, drawings, and attending pre-bid meetings to determine scope and estimate contents.
• Scope development: understanding scope requirements, issuing subcontracts for trades such as boilermaker, steel, concrete, piping, electrical, and negotiating subcontracts.
• Cost preparation: preparing accurate cost estimates and bid documents for management.
• Strategic planning: identifying competitive strategies, contractual requirements, risk factors, schedule, insurance, and developing action plans.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or related field preferred; equivalent experience with a high school diploma.
• At least five years of estimating or related construction management experience.
• Proficiency in estimating software and Excel.
• Excellent communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Organizational skills for coordinating cross-functional teams.
• Experience with Microsoft Project or Primavera.

Skills and Attributes:

• Strong technical knowledge of construction and estimating processes.
• Budget management, financial forecasting, risk assessment skills.
• Ability to adapt in fast-paced environments.
