Job Purpose
MRC Global serves the oil and gas industry across the upstream, midstream and downstream sectors as well as the chemical and gas distribution market sectors worldwide. This role works closely with the Gas Products Quality Specialist and Sr. Quality Manager to administer the QC function within various Gas products branch locations.
ResponsibilitiesControl local branch gas product inspections according to predetermined contractual/customer requirements.
Facilitate inspection process with warehouse/branch operations.
- Use inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, comparators, Positive Material Identification (PMI) equipment, plug gauges, thread gauges, ultrasonic thickness equipment, hardness testers, tape measures, rulers and others as appropriate.
- Operate standard warehouse equipment:
Forklifts, Order Pickers, Cranes and other equipment as needed.
Complete documentation of all inspections, including monthly reporting in Excel format.
Handle all non-conformances by filing NCRs within MRC Global’s Quality systems, monitor completion and closing.
Work with QC Administrators and MRC Global Branches to maintain correct inventory for returns and defective material transfers.
Monitor shipping of samples to labs/vendors and follow-up to obtain timely results; communicate results to buyers, sales groups, customers and suppliers as needed.
Represent the Quality department on projects or assignments.
Take responsibility over all local tooling care and calibration requirements.
Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Ensure safety and health, report hazards, injuries and illnesses immediately.
Education, Experience & Ability RequirementsUndergraduate degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Current, valid driver’s license with acceptable record.
Working knowledge of warehouse distribution operations including shipping, receiving, packaging, inventory controls, etc.
Knowledge of industry standards, quality codes, and customer specifications involved in MRC Global’s quality process.
Strong reasoning and reading skills to interpret quality codes and analyze nonconforming material.
Self-starter and good communicator able to work as an effective quality inspector and team member.
Ability to operate forklifts, order pickers, cranes and other typical warehouse handling equipment.
Ability to travel to MRC Global branches and customer locations.
Ability to manage direct reports to accommodate changing requirements.
Ability to effectively analyze quality data, present results, determine trends, and recognize need for process change.
Willingness to implement beneficial changes for the department and MRC Global.
Additional Qualifications- Provide documentation verifying legal work status.
- Read and speak the English language proficiently.
- Understand and comply with MRC Global guidelines including Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest guidelines.
