Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Assurance Specialist to join a food manufacturing team in Fremont, IN. This role is responsible for ensuring food safety, product quality, and regulatory compliance throughout the production process. The ideal candidate will have experience in quality assurance within a manufacturing environment, excellent documentation skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with production and leadership teams.
Location: Fremont, IN
Pay: Starting at $22.81/hour
Shift: Monday-Friday | 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM
- Support the Quality Systems Manager with food safety and quality initiatives.
- Perform daily GMP inspections, plant audits, and quality assessments.
- Verify completion and accuracy of quality documentation, including CQP paperwork and metal detector checks.
- Monitor product quality through floor inspections, finished product inspections, raw material inspections, moisture and pH testing, sensory evaluations, and coding verification.
- Calibrate quality equipment, including Dipix/Eye Pro systems.
- Ensure compliance with HACCP, GMP, SQF, FDA, customer specifications, and other food safety standards.
- Monitor and communicate food safety or quality concerns and assist with corrective actions.
- Conduct environmental monitoring and air quality testing as required.
- Audit incoming ingredient inspections and receiving documentation.
- Support customer, regulatory, and third-party audits, including AIB, SQF, HACCP, and FDA inspections.
- Maintain allergen control documentation and ensure program compliance.
- Assist with investigations of customer complaints and product quality concerns.
- Coordinate the disposition of on-hold ingredients and finished products with production teams.
- Communicate quality concerns effectively with supervisors, department leads, and management.
- Complete additional quality-related responsibilities as assigned.
- Enforce all food safety, quality, and sanitation programs.
- Ensure documentation is complete, accurate, and audit‑ready.
- Identify, report, and help resolve food safety, legality, and product quality issues.
- Follow all procedures outlined in the Food Safety and Quality Manual.
- Support compliance with GFSI standards and third‑party certification requirements.
- Previous Quality Assurance or Quality Control experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Food manufacturing or bakery experience is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, SQF, FDA regulations, and food safety standards.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical abilities.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Comfortable working on the production floor in a fast‑paced environment.
