In-Process Quality Technician
Position Overview:
The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for ensuring product quality and process compliance within an aluminum manufacturing environment. This role performs in-process and final inspections, monitors production quality, collects and delivers samples for laboratory testing, and supports continuous improvement efforts. The position requires strong attention to detail and a working knowledge of quality systems, including a basic understanding of ISO 9001 standards.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Perform quality inspections throughout production processes, including gauge, flatness, profile, sheet, coil, pinhole, and knife checks
- Monitor product quality on mills, slitting, packing, and finishing operations
- Collect production samples and deliver them to the laboratory for testing and analysis
- Place product on hold when quality issues or out-of-spec conditions are identified
- Verify packaging and coil conditions prior to shipment or transfer
- Maintain detailed and accurate quality inspection records and reports
- Communicate quality concerns to operators, supervisors, and production teams
- Conduct process checks and routine audits across multiple production areas
- Ensure compliance with company quality procedures and ISO 9001 principles
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and defect reduction efforts
- Assist in investigating quality issues, including surface defects and dimensional variations
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Manufacturing or quality control experience preferred, especially in metal or aluminum processing environments
- Familiarity with inspection tools and measurement equipment
- Basic understanding of ISO 9001 quality management system requirements
Competencies:
- Strong attention to detail and observational skills
- Ability to perform accurate measurements and inspections
- Good communication and documentation abilities
- Ability to identify defects and nonconforming material
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced production environment
- Manufacturing facility with frequent movement between production areas and lab
- Exposure to industrial equipment, machinery, and varying temperatures
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Regular interaction with production and quality teams
