Position Summary
The Quality Control Technician will test and disposition finished products and raw materials per defined quality plans within a chemical manufacturing facility. They also perform non-routine testing, tasks and investigation as required to maintain product quality. The incumbent is expected to efficiently and accurately conduct testing and appropriately rework batches at a rate necessary to enable production personnel to continue work at an unimpaired rate.
Responsibilities- Generation of finished product and raw material certificates of compliance.
- Manual testing of raw materials and finished products according to specific quality plan.
- Tool calibrations as required.
- Data entry of test results.
- Maintaining cleanliness of work stations.
- Reviewing & filing vendor Certificates of Analysis.
- Labeling and moving raw materials in computer inventory.
- Directing rework of non-conforming batches.
- Dispose of QC wastes in the prescribed manner.
- Assist lab/sales personnel with appropriate testing in development of specifications for new products.
- Initiating investigation of statistically suspect process data.
- Entering test results into local testing software.
- Technician-level expertise in corporate-mandated ERP software.
- The incumbent is expected to communicate as appropriate with the following internal and external entities as appropriate to the situation.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to manually prepare samples for testing.
- Ability to wear respirator as judged by qualitative fit test.
- Ability to speak, read, and understand English.
- Basic knowledge of statistics.
Preferred Qualifications:
- BS in chemistry or biology.
- Equivalent industrial experience.
- Prior quality control/laboratory experience.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Knowledge of required continuous improvement techniques.
