Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day operations of analytical laboratories supporting process development, characterization, technology transfer, GMP testing, and manufacturing support.
- Ensure lab readiness for new programs, equipment installations, method transfers, and facility expansions; develop resource plans, schedules, and capacity forecasts.
- Serve as primary escalation point for lab operational issues.
- Foster safety culture and ensure HSE compliance; maintain quality compliance and inspection readiness (support audits/inspections).
- Apply 5S and ALCOA principles to maintain an organized, compliant, inspection-ready lab.
- Oversee analytical equipment lifecycle (procurement, installation, qualification, calibration, maintenance, relocation, retirement) and manage reliability/availability.
- Manage lab assets and inventories (consumables, reagents, standards, critical materials); monitor utilization and performance metrics; drive improvements.
- Lead initiatives for productivity, automation, digitalization, and operational excellence; implement digital workflows; use data-driven metrics; promote cross-functional collaboration.
- BS in chemistry, biology, or related scientific discipline.
- 5+ years’ experience in pharmaceutical/chemical/biotechnology/process development labs.
- Experience managing lab operations in a regulated environment.
- Ability to work safely in a lab (chemical handling, PPE, safety equipment).
- Authorized to work in the U.S. full-time (Lilly does not sponsor visas).
- Knowledge of HPLC, UPLC, GC, LC-MS, dissolution, spectroscopy, particle characterization, microbiological testing.
- Equipment qualification/validation and lifecycle management.
- LIMS/Empower/ELN/Kneat/CMMS and other lab digital systems.
- Regulatory requirements, data integrity, and quality systems; cross-functional leadership.
- Anticipated wage: $65,250–$148,500; bonus eligibility; 401(k), pension, vacation, medical/dental/vision, flexible benefits, life insurance, time off/leave, well-being benefits.
- On-site; 8-hour days, 5 days/week; 0–10% travel; flexible coverage for shutdowns/weekends as needed.
