Project Overview

Sheakley is seeking an experienced Quality Control Manager to provide full‑time, on‑site quality oversight for a mechanical construction project at the Indianapolis VA Medical Center
.

The project involves the replacement of sanitary and vent piping, including associated welding and hot work activities. The Quality Control Manager will be responsible for verifying that installations meet contract specifications, approved drawings, applicable codes, inspection requirements, and established quality standards.

This is a hands‑on field position requiring daily interaction with project leadership, subcontractors, craft personnel, inspectors, and other project stakeholders. The selected candidate must be comfortable identifying deficiencies, documenting findings, and ensuring corrective actions are completed before work progresses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage daily on‑site quality control activities
  • Verify compliance with contract specifications, approved drawings, codes, standards, and project requirements
  • Monitor sanitary and vent piping installation for workmanship and specification compliance
  • Provide quality oversight for welding and hot work activities
  • Review materials, equipment, submittals, and installation procedures
  • Perform inspections, testing coordination, and verification of completed work
  • Conduct preparatory, initial, and follow‑up quality control meetings and inspections
  • Identify, document, and track deficiencies and non‑conforming work
  • Coordinate corrective actions with project managers, supervisors, subcontractors, and field personnel
  • Confirm deficiencies are resolved before work is concealed or advanced
  • Maintain daily quality control reports, inspection records, testing documentation, and deficiency logs
  • Assist with punch‑list management, closeout documentation, and final quality verification
  • Coordinate with client representatives, inspectors, and project stakeholders as required
Required Qualifications
  • Quality Control Manager certification
  • Minimum five years of relevant construction quality control experience
  • Experience with mechanical piping installation
  • Experience monitoring welding and hot work activities
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents
  • Strong inspection, documentation, and reporting skills
  • Experience identifying deficiencies and managing corrective actions
  • Ability to work the full four‑day, 40‑hour on‑site schedule
