OverviewWe are recruiting a Research Governance Officer for the NHS Lothian R&D Governance team in the Academic and Clinical Central Office for Research and Development (ACCORD), located in the Usher building at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
Responsibilities• Review non‑commercial research studies and modifications, locally sponsored or hosted in Lothian, in compliance with regulatory requirements, UK guidance and local policies and procedures. This includes identifying patient welfare, corporate risk, sponsorship or resource issues, ensuring appropriate scientific review, and confirming that studies are safe, practical and financially viable.
• Liaise closely with Sponsors, Investigators, Pharmacy or other Clinical Support departments to communicate obligations and negotiate costs where appropriate.
• Maintain oversight of the portfolio of work under your review and keep the Scottish Research Database Application (SReDA) updated with all relevant data on study review times, meeting targets set by NHS Research Scotland (NRS) and the Chief Scientist’s Office (CSO, Scottish Government).
Qualifications• Scientific degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
• Detailed knowledge of the legislation underpinning UK research and working knowledge of national processes for reviewing and managing academically sponsored research.
