Our group "Biomedical Nanosensors" develops fluorescent (nano) biosensors for biomedical applications with the goal of faster and more specific diagnosis of biomolecules and pathogens.

The detection of antibiotic resistances in bacterial infections is essential, but in conventional diagnostics it is time-consuming because it is based on cultivation. Since every hour is crucial, especially in severe infections, a faster resistance detection can be life-saving. In this project, a microfluidic rapid test based on optical biosensors will therefore be developed. As part of your master thesis, you will work on issues at the interface of technology and biomedical application and will be supported by experienced scientists from various fields.

Qualifications

• Study in the field of chemistry, biochemistry, medical technology, nanoengineering or a comparable course
• Very good to good academic performance
• First experience in work in the chemistry and/or bio lab
• Knowledge in the field of microscopy and spectroscopy is advantageous
• Interest in the development of biomedical diagnostics
• A systematic, independent and reliable way of working
• Communication and team skills
