Senior Associate Scientist, Cell Line Development
As a pivotal member of the Transitional and Early Development (TED) team, you will contribute to the advancement of Elanco’s biotherapeutic and vaccine pipeline by developing and industrializing next‑generation cell lines.
Responsibilities- Guide the development, optimization and implementation of robust workflows for mammalian cell culture and high‑performance cell line generation.
- Own end‑to‑end creation of stable and clonal cell lines for biotherapeutic and vaccine candidates using advanced platforms such as Beacon and VIPS.
- Serve as a key technical matter expert, providing scientific input and fostering collaboration with Discovery, Upstream Process Development and Analytical teams.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies and methodologies to improve speed, quality and efficiency of cell line development.
- Ensure meticulous data integrity and knowledge transfer by authoring detailed technical protocols, analyzing datasets and presenting findings.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant scientific discipline (Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology) with at least 6 years of industry experience, OR Master’s degree with at least 3 years of industry experience.
- Deep technical expertise in mammalian suspension cell culture (CHO and 293) including aseptic technique, media preparation and cell banking.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues, interpret data and manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
- Hands‑on experience in end‑to‑end development of stable cell lines (transfection, single‑cell cloning, clonality and stability characterization).
- Project management experience, ability to guide technical strategy and mentor junior scientists.
- Experience with high‑throughput platforms (Beacon, VIPS) and flow cytometry.
- Understanding of upstream bioprocess techniques (shake flasks, Am ®, bench‑scale bioreactors).
- Familiarity with cGMP principles and regulatory requirements for IND/BLA submissions for cell line development and characterization.
