Position Summary
The Kitchen Supervisor oversees food production and serves as manager in the Dining Services Director’s absence. The Kitchen Supervisor effectively assists in leading the dining services team to prepare nutritional meals delivered with a hospitality focus while managing food costs in accordance with all laws, regulations and company standards. Reports to the Dining Services Director.
Qualifications- Must have high school diploma or equivalent
- Must have a minimum of 3 years scratch cooking experience
- Must be experienced in preparing meals on a regular basis for large groups ? hospitality environment preferred
- Must be knowledgeable of special diets
- One year of supervisory experience preferred
- Must obtain Serv Safe Certification within 90 days of hire and maintain throughout employment
Job Responsibilities
- Assists Dining Services Director in organizing, implementing and evaluating dining services policies & procedures
- Maintains inventory and portion controls working within budget while working with Dining Services Director
- Assists with menu development by offering heart healthy choices and considers low sodium and diabetic diet needs
- Works with Dining Room Supervisor and Marketing Director to ensure flawless execution of special events
- Inspects kitchen for compliance with state and county regulations as well as Company standards appearance, overall cleanliness, sanitation, food storage, recordkeeping, food temperatures, portion sizes and chemical usage/storage
- Inspects food storage rooms, coolers and freezers for upkeep and supply control
- Inspects serving line procedures for accuracy
- Utilizes production sheet and prep and pull list to ensure quality and consistency
- Develops methods for maintaining high quality with minimum food waste
- Develops and implements procedures for dating food and rotating inventory to keep food fresh
- Develops and implements procedures to ensure high quality food ready on time and at proper temperature
- Reviews daily menus making substitutions when necessary and records changes on menus
- Inspects and tests meals for taste, temperature, smell, nutrition and attractiveness in delivery; performs meal counts
- Reviews all deliveries for quality, proper amounts and pricing
- Performs duties of cook, dishwasher, server, etc. as staffing requires
- Works with Dining Room Supervisor to ensure communication and teamwork between kitchen staff and servers
- Inspects dining room presentation to ensure compliance with company standards of hospitality
- Visits tables to obtain feedback from residents
- Assists with recruiting, selecting, training, supervising and counseling dining services team
- Schedules department hours appropriately
- Serves as an effective role model
- Maintains an approachable management style
- Treats all associates respectfully
- Must enjoy serving seniors
- Must demonstrate excellent customer service and hospitality
- Must demonstrate trustworthiness and dependability
- Must work efficiently and effectively with little to no supervision
- Must demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills

- Must be able to receive and resolve complaints graciously
- Must present in a professional manner in accordance with Company uniform and dress code standards
