Space Planning Analyst

Overview

The Space Planning Analyst supports the execution of store-level space allocation, capacity planning, and fleet optimization initiatives. This role is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of merchandise capacity data and the coordination of space layouts for new store openings and remodels. The Analyst acts as a vital link between Merchandising and Store Operations, ensuring that product assortments are physically executable within the footprint of each location.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working with data and floor plans, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced retail environment.

• Support space planning activities for new store openings, remodels, relocations, and major store refresh projects.
• Assist in updating and maintaining store floor plans, fixture layouts, and merchandise capacity data.
• Help track category-level space allocations and option counts using established planning frameworks.
• Maintain and update space planning databases, fixture inventories, and related documentation.
• Assist in analyzing store productivity metrics (sales, inventory, space efficiency) to support planning decisions.
• Prepare basic reports, spreadsheets, and presentations summarizing space allocation data and updates.
• Participate in store visits and walk-throughs to gather observations and support validation of floor plans.
• Collaborate with Merchandising and Store Operations teams to ensure data accuracy and alignment across systems.
• Support ad hoc analysis requests and space planning projects as needed.

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Retail Merchandising, Business Analytics, or related area.
• 1–3 years of experience in Retail Merchandising, Space Planning, Store Planning, or related retail analytics functions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables) and Google Suite.
• Highly organized with the ability to manage strict deadlines related to store opening calendars.
• Desire to continually learn new skills, methods, and technologies as the job requires.

• Experience in athletic footwear, sporting goods, or apparel retail.
• Experience supporting new store development and remodel initiatives in a multi-store retail environment.
• Understanding of retail stockroom operations and inventory flow processes.
