Department Manager

As a Department Manager, you will lead and support your team, fostering an inclusive culture that promotes collaboration and an entrepreneurial spirit. You will create an excellent operational and visual experience for the store, ensuring customer and colleague satisfaction. Your role includes analyzing and following up on sales, creating plans to improve results and profits, and keeping the store’s strengths, opportunities, and competitors in focus.

• Your main responsibility is the total OMNI customer experience, ensuring visual and commercial curation according to global guidelines.
• You represent yourself and the H&M brand positively in all customer interactions.
• You identify commercial opportunities and act on them.
• You establish and analyze sales and budget goals and create plans to optimize results.
• You ensure customer service is provided across all areas of the store and encourage your team to promote and sell products.
• You promote our Customer Loyalty App (Hello Member) and in‑store sustainability initiatives.
• You manage your department cost‑efficiently.
• You maintain correct routines in the fitting room and checkout, including transactions, returns, and exchanges.
• You handle all administrative routines for people and operations correctly.

• Keep up to date with industry trends, styles, brands, products, competitors, and influencers.
• Ensure your team shares product and fashion knowledge during customer interactions.

• Recruit, onboard, manage performance, and upskill your team.
• Complete performance evaluations and succession planning.
• Share your knowledge and skills with the team.
• Collaborate with the Visual Merchandiser team.
• Give and receive feedback to foster development.
• Plan and schedule team activities.
• Communicate regularly with store colleagues to inform, motivate, and inspire.
• Ensure all procedures, routines, and legal requirements are followed.
• Participate in onboarding and training sessions relevant to your role.

• Maintain a clean, tidy sales floor and back‑of‑house inventory areas.
• Ensure high‑fashion quality, visual and commercial presentation, and garment care.
• Provide input on allocation to maintain appropriate stock levels.
• Follow our standards for the full garment cycle, from delivery to fitting room routines.
• Utilize in‑store OMNI services and technology, such as Instore Care App, Click & Collect, and Smart Store.
• Maintain price signs and visual consistency.
• Keep back‑of‑house areas updated with key information, safety and tidiness.
• Oversee daily opening and closing of the store.
