Job Summary
  • The Business Developer (BD) works to improve Bright View’s market position and achieve profitable financial growth. This role helps to achieve long-term organizational strategic goals, builds key customer relationships, identifies business opportunities, negotiates, and closes business deals and maintains extensive knowledge of current market conditions.
  • The Business Developer manages the sales pipeline from prospecting to closing and is responsible for full cycle landscape and, depending on region, snow sales.
  • The Business Developer collaborates with partners including operations, finance, marketing, and more to manage responses to bids in an effort to meet sales targets.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work with prospective customers to discover their “points of pain” and develop solutions.
  • Accurately forecast sales deliverables and KPI’s.
  • Achieve sales goals and be able to work independently.
  • Perform sales prospecting using consultative sales techniques to build long-standing business relationships; marketing; pricing.
  • Prepare and conduct heavy phone prospecting, sales presentations, virtual demonstrations, and handle contract negotiations with minimum supervision.
  • Identify customer needs and utilize solution-based selling techniques to fully demonstrate value of Bright View services.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with prospects and existing clients.
  • Build and maintain trust-based professional relationships with key decision makers.
  • Plan daily and hit specific activity benchmarks and close business.
  • Log activity consistently and reliably in CRM (Salesforce).
  • Work in a fast-paced environment while operating with a high sense of urgency.
  • Communicate proactively with all decision makers and influencers.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Extensive face-to-face (B2B) selling experience at the mid-to-senior levels, 3-5 years of experience.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and able to multi-task in a large territory.
  • Proficient with computer programs including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with a CRM or SFA tool.
  • Proven track record of sales goal attainment and pipeline management.
  • Highly competitive, positive, and results driven.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to build client-centric and solution/value-based proposals.
  • Working experience with social media.
  • Local knowledge and contacts in one or more market segments preferred.
  • Ability to be self-motivated and self-directed.
  • Experience in the service industry with commercial contract sales desirable.
Physical Demands/Requirements
  • Constant operation of a computer and other office equipment such as a laptop, cell phone and sales programs/tools.
  • Position is a combination of mobile and sedentary work; must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
  • Customarily and regularly spends more than half of the time working away from Bright View’s places of business selling and obtaining orders or contracts for Bright View’s services.
  • Ability to travel by car, train, and plane.
  • Position needs to be able to traverse uneven grounds and walk on jobsites with clients and branch teams for periods of time up to 4 hours.
  • Ability to maintain, in your possession at all times, required medications to address any known allergic reactions should they occur.
Work Environment
  • Works both indoors and outdoors.
  • Field based position, combination of office and customer facing.
