Route Sales Representative

A Route Sales Representative is responsible for selling and merchandising a line of quality products at local stores. The role involves operating a Smithfield Foods box truck, working Monday through Friday with 50-55 hours per week and occasional Saturday or holiday shifts.

• Quotes prices and credit terms and prepares sales invoices for orders obtained
• Delivers products to customers, stocks retail cases and rotates inventory as required
• Prepares end‑of‑day reports of business transactions and informs local management of any unresolved issues or opportunities
• Maintains daily Department of Transportation records and provides reports to local management as required
• Maintains daily truck inventory, performs weekly physical inventory and reports variations to local management
• Drives to assigned locations
• Uses equipment (e.g., carts, pallets) to unload products and move storage throughout the store
• Rotates products, removes defective and out‑of‑date items, and processes returns and credits with receiver

• High School Diploma/GED, required
• Minimum of 6 months experience in route sales, grocery, warehousing, or delivery, required
• A valid Driver’s License required; a valid CDL‑B Driver’s License required within 90 days of start date
• Federal Regulations require individuals in this position to be 21 years of age
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, or scheduled form
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Ability to work well with others in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment
• Ability to be respectful, approachable, and team‑oriented while building strong working relationships

• This work is physically demanding and may require the use of some or all body parts and muscle groups; repetitive overhead lifting up to 30 lbs, single lifting of heavy objects up to 60 lbs, or lifting with mechanical assistance may be required
