Metalworking Specialist- Account Manager

The Metalworking Specialist is a technical sales professional responsible for growing revenue and profitability within assigned metalworking accounts. This role works directly with customers to understand their operations, identify opportunities, and recommend solutions that improve efficiency and reduce costs.

IMPORTANT:
Industrial distribution experience or strong knowledge of the industrial distribution industry is highly preferred. Candidates should understand industrial products, customer purchasing needs, and the manufacturing/metalworking market.

• Conduct customer needs assessments and recommend products and services that align with their requirements.
• Lead customer discussions with relevant technical insight and identify opportunities to improve their business.
• Identify customer challenges and develop customized solutions that improve efficiency or reduce costs.
• Perform cost-savings and business analysis to demonstrate the value of recommended solutions.
• Work with internal E&R teams and manufacturers to develop and implement customer solutions.
• Develop and manage implementation plans and timelines with customers.
• Follow up after implementation to ensure solutions are meeting customer needs and identify future opportunities.
• Stay current on metalworking trends, technologies, cutting tools, and machine tool applications
  .
• Educate customers on new technologies and how they can impact their business.
• Identify nonstandard solutions when needed to meet customer requirements.
• Expand customer knowledge and use of E&R Industrial products and services.

This is a customer-facing field sales position that requires regular travel to customer locations and E&R branch offices. A valid driver’s license and ability to travel are required.

• 3+ years of experience in industrial distribution, cutting tools, machine tools, or related manufacturing/sales environments preferred.
• Strong industrial/tooling distribution knowledge or background is highly preferred.
• Previous field sales experience with cutting tools, machine tools, or industrial products preferred.
• Strong understanding of CNC operations
  , including turning, drilling, and milling.
• Knowledge of metal cutting, speeds and feeds, materials, and tooling
  .
• Familiarity with major machine tool and cutting tool brands and their applications.
• Business analysis experience with the ability to identify and implement improvement opportunities.
• Basic CNC programming knowledge preferred.
• College degree or equivalent work experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication and relationship-building skills
  .
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  .
• Proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  .
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly to customer and branch locations
  .

• Primarily an office and customer-facing environment.
• Regular travel to customers and E&R branch locations is required.
• Ability to lift less than 25 lbs. and occasionally work in difficult positions.
