Position SummaryThe Department of Medical and Molecular Genetics at Indiana University School of Medicine is seeking applicants at the associate scientist level. This is a scientist track non tenure position.
Responsibilities- Design, execute and/or supervise the bioinformatics projects for the laboratory.
- Develop analysis pipelines and work with large datasets; perform omics analyses.
- Program and use command line tools; apply machine learning approaches and data visualization techniques.
- Contribute to software engineering efforts and maintain a firm foundation in biological research.
- Mentor graduate students and technicians and collaborate with laboratory personnel without bioinformatics skills.
- Develop research projects with strong potential for long-term NIH funding and demonstrate collaborative ability.
- Ph.D. in computational biology, bioinformatics, quantitative genetics, molecular biology and genomics, or related area; more than 2 years of postdoctoral fellowship training.
- Expertise in large datasets, developing analysis pipelines, omics analyses, programming, command line tools, machine learning, and data visualization.
- Expertise in software engineering; strong foundation in biological research.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to mentor graduate students and technicians and collaborate with laboratory personnel lacking bioinformatics skills.
- Desirable: ability to develop research projects with potential for long-term NIH funding and demonstrated collaboration across teams.

Basic Qualifications (Shifted)The successful candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in a neuroscience-related discipline and more than 2 years of postdoctoral fellowship training. The candidate must have expertise in conducting research in the fields of Alzheimer’s disease, other aging-associated neurodegenerative diseases, and normal brain aging. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are essential.
