Location: Indianapolis

Come work with senior-level professionals at an established A/E firm that values employee input and collaboration. Burgess & Niple is looking for an Environmental Scientist to join our team in Indianapolis.

B&N Environmental Scientist Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of INDOT's environmental documentation process, supporting technical studies, and agency coordination requirements
  • Lead the preparation and delivery of complex NEPA documentation for transportation and other civil infrastructure projects, including CEs, EAs, and EIS's
  • Mentor and develop junior staff by providing technical guidance, project leadership
  • Manage environmental projects from Notice to Proceed through project completion
  • Demonstrate a desire to grow into increasing project management, client management, and people leadership responsibilities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and teaming partners through proactive communication, responsiveness, and a commitment to successful project outcomes
  • Contribute to high-quality deliverables
  • Interpret and apply technical procedures, environmental regulations, agency guidance, and industry standards
  • Contribute to business growth efforts through proposal development, scope and fee preparation, client interviews, and strategic growth initiatives
  • Foster a doer/seller mindset by delivering exceptional technical work, identifying opportunities to support clients' evolving needs, and contributing to the continued growth of the environmental practice
Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in the field of Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, or related, Masters Degree preferred
  • 7+ years of related environmental/ecological field survey, categorical exclusion, and INDOT NEPA Document Prep
  • Microsoft Office experience required, prior experience with ArcGIS
  • Excellent communication skills and detail oriented
  • Ability to travel, including overnight stays
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
