Come work with senior-level professionals at an established A/E firm that values employee input and collaboration. Burgess & Niple is looking for an Environmental Scientist to join our team in Indianapolis.
B&N Environmental Scientist Responsibilities- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of INDOT's environmental documentation process, supporting technical studies, and agency coordination requirements
- Lead the preparation and delivery of complex NEPA documentation for transportation and other civil infrastructure projects, including CEs, EAs, and EIS's
- Mentor and develop junior staff by providing technical guidance, project leadership
- Manage environmental projects from Notice to Proceed through project completion
- Demonstrate a desire to grow into increasing project management, client management, and people leadership responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and teaming partners through proactive communication, responsiveness, and a commitment to successful project outcomes
- Contribute to high-quality deliverables
- Interpret and apply technical procedures, environmental regulations, agency guidance, and industry standards
- Contribute to business growth efforts through proposal development, scope and fee preparation, client interviews, and strategic growth initiatives
- Foster a doer/seller mindset by delivering exceptional technical work, identifying opportunities to support clients' evolving needs, and contributing to the continued growth of the environmental practice
- Bachelors degree in the field of Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, or related, Masters Degree preferred
- 7+ years of related environmental/ecological field survey, categorical exclusion, and INDOT NEPA Document Prep
- Microsoft Office experience required, prior experience with ArcGIS
- Excellent communication skills and detail oriented
- Ability to travel, including overnight stays
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
