Scope:
Heartland Food Products Group is a global leader in the consumer-packaged foods industry, supplying store brand solutions for the retail and food service markets. The Research and Analytics Intern will gain experience in a research lab environment by learning how to perform research projects and how to use special instruments and techniques to help provide answers for the business to operate.
They will assist the research and analytics team by completing research projects and compiling and analyzing test results that go into charts, presentations, and reports.
Essential Duties and
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct Research projects related to current and future business opportunities for Heartland Food Products Group.
- Set up and calibrate instruments for sample analysis.
- Accurately prepare samples for testing.
- Support the Research and Analytics team in completing projects.
- Ensure results are accurately recorded, reviewed, and verified using Good Documentation Practices, GLPs and GMPs.
- Analyze, review, and report results.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Working towards a degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Science, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering or related field.
- Will have completed their Sophomore year by the time of the start of the internship (preferably will have completed their Junior year)
- Must be flexible and adaptable to a fast-paced, changing environment
- Proficient command of English and strong communication skills required
- Previous experience in a quality or research lab environment a plus
- Previous experience in a food manufacturing environment a plus
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to physically perform the functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
- Must be able to work seated using a computer and phone for long periods of time
- Must be able to work extended hours, such as daily overtime and an occasional weekend
- Must possess visual acuity to document company records
- Continuous walking throughout plant and distribution center
