Job DescriptionAECOM
is actively seeking an experienced
Environmental Biologist II
to join our Environmental Planning and Permitting Group based out of Indianapolis, IN. This is a hybrid role.
This position will support a variety of transportation, energy, water, and infrastructure projects throughout the Midwest. The successful candidate will conduct natural resource field investigations, perform wetland delineations, prepare Clean Water Act Section 404/401 permit applications, support threatened and endangered species evaluations, and assist with environmental compliance and permitting efforts. The role offers a balance of fieldwork and technical report preparation and provides opportunities to work directly with state and federal regulatory agencies
Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to
:
- Wetland and Natural Resources Documentation: Prepare wetland delineation reports, ordinary high water mark determinations, aquatic resource assessments, habitat assessments, biological technical reports, and permit support documentation. Serve as the primary author for reports appropriate to experience level.
- Regulatory Permitting: Prepare and support Section 404 and Section 401 permit applications, mitigation documentation, permit compliance materials, and agency coordination efforts. Interpret applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations affecting project development.
- Project Support: Coordinate technical tasks, manage assigned project deliverables, support schedule adherence, and communicate effectively with project managers, clients, and regulatory agencies.
- Field Investigations: Conduct wetland delineations, stream assessments, habitat evaluations, threatened and endangered species habitat assessments, vegetation surveys, and other natural resource field investigations. Travel to project sites throughout the Midwest and collect defensible field data in accordance with applicable federal and regional guidance.
- Natural Resource Analysis: Utilize GIS, aerial photography, soil surveys, National Wetland Inventory data, and agency databases to support environmental constraints analyses, permit applications, and resource evaluations.
- Agency Coordination: Coordinate with agencies including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM), and other state and federal agencies regarding permitting and environmental review requirements.
