Overview

The Security Officer Lead is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delegating security activities to ensure the safety and security of associates, patients, and visitors at the assigned location or shift. The role models appropriate behavior in line with the organization’s mission and values.

Responsibilities
  • Patrol the hospital, parking, and/or assigned area to ensure safety and security for associates, patients, and visitors.
  • Plan, coordinate, control, and delegate shift activities and operations under direction of the Lieutenant.
  • Lead associates on assigned shift(s).
  • Investigate theft and other crimes.
  • Assist supervisor/director in data collection.
  • Maintain unit productivity records.
  • Maintain appearance of equipment.
Education and Training
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
Work Experience
  • 1–3 years of security or law enforcement experience.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Security Guard– Unarmed license (Tennessee, Department of Commerce and Insurance).
  • Class D driver license (Tennessee).
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of security operations in a multi‑facility organization (preferred).
  • Knowledge of security and criminal investigation methods and operations commensurate with experience and education.
  • Ability to carry out assigned duties with integrity and honesty.
  • Skill in applying appropriate behavior when greeting and assisting members of the public.
  • Ability to understand and prepare written materials at a moderate level, such as incident reports.
  • Ability to communicate verbally with associates and visitors to the hospital.
  • Ability to work without close supervision and to exercise independent judgment.
  • Ability to organize multiple tasks and maintain control of workflow.
  • Ability to maintain working relationships with coworkers.
Supervision

This is a lead position and the incumbent provides instruction to other security officers and delivers direction and guidance in the absence of the supervisor.

Physical Demands
  • Climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
  • Exerting up to 100 lbs of force occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs of force frequently.
  • Requires good balance and coordination.
  • Requires close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data and figures, transcribe, view a computer terminal, or read extensively.
  • Requires visual acuity to determine accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work and to observe facilities or structures (e.g., inspection).
