The Security Supervisor is responsible for assisting with the oversight of daily security operations, ensuring the security and protection of the museum facility, campus, visitors, staff, volunteers and collections for The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, Inc. The supervisor oversees the first shift security staff and works closely with department leadership, colleagues across the museum, and contracted security companies to ensure safe daily security operations.
The incumbent oversees the planning, staffing and operations of Museum campus parking, ensuring efficient parking, seamless traffic flow and security of parking areas. The supervisor assists with coordinating security-related training efforts, as well as completing, reviewing and distributing appropriate reports.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversees the daily security operations team. Ensures security protocols are understood, practiced and consistently followed by staff. Conducts performance evaluations, provides ongoing feedback, addresses performance concerns, and supports employee development.Conducts assigned patrols of the building, exterior grounds and parking spaces. Responsible for facility security opening duties prior to public hours. Conducts and reports on hazard and safety checks to protect against vandalism, damage and theft of museum property and assets.Provides exceptional customer service to visitors and museum staff and volunteers. Enforces museum and departmental policies and procedures through planning, observation, building checks, interpersonal communication skills, negotiation and conflict management; assists with reuniting lost children.Ensures an efficient parking process through proper set‑up, monitoring, vehicle assists and directing of incoming/outgoing traffic. Assists with special parking and school group pick‑up and drop‑off procedures.Ensures the upkeep and annual maintenance checks for department vehicles. Provides basic vehicular assistance such as jump starts, lock‑outs and tire changes.Provides leadership in emergency protocols and ensures effective emergency response for all emergency situations and drills. Works with the departmental and divisional training team to create, review, practice and communicate annual training plans for security staff, Safety Wardens and museum staff. Assists with the planning and coordination of annual full‑scale safety/security exercises with local emergency personnel.Works closely with the Director of Security Operations on overseeing the first shift security operation, providing consistent and timely communication of all pertinent information to management.Remains proficient in Control Room procedures, ensuring the comprehensive observation of the campus and remote site locations through monitoring of cameras and computer systems. Monitors radio traffic, routes emergency calls and administers automated security and fire life safety systems.Operates fire and life safety equipment to include fire extinguishers, emergency defibrillators and other first aid equipment.Works with community constituents and acts as liaison for contracted security companies.REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. Bachelor’s or associate’s in related field preferred.Three (3) years proven experience in emergency protocols, security and supervisory experience.Must be CPR/AED and Stop the Bleed certified or have the ability to be certified within 6 months of employment.Must possess a valid Indiana Driver’s License.Must be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of de-escalation and conflict resolution skills with the ability to effectively communicate with individuals from diverse backgrounds.Must be able to work weekends, available on holidays and some second shift.Must be able to stand for long periods of time and work outside in all weather conditions.Special consideration given to those applicants who are multi-lingual.ADA REQUIREMENTS
