Description Of Tasks

• Oversees workers who place forms for molding concrete, install reinforcing steel, and convey, pour, finish, and cure concrete.
• Reads specifications sheets for information, such as sizes of aggregates and proportions of cement and water required, to ensure that concrete is mixed according to specifications.
• Inspects bracing and shoring of concrete forms to ensure their stability before and during pouring.
• Indicates positions for pouring chutes and runways, cranes, or paving machines to facilitate conveying concrete from mixer to forms.
• Trains new workers.

• Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Must be able to read safety rules, instructions in the use and maintenance of shop tools and equipment, and methods and procedures in mechanical drawing and layout work.
• Knowledge of trade tools, equipment, materials, methods and techniques. Calculate amounts of material required for each job.
• Maintain safe and secure work environment by complying with government standards and legal regulations. Responsible for the health and safety of others.
• 2 to 4 years experience.

• Must be capable of exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
• Maintain physical strength and stamina. Use arms, hands, and legs fully.
• Climb and maintain balance on scaffolds and ladders.
• Must be able to stand, stoop, kneel, bend, and crouch for extended periods of time as required to perform duties.
• Vision – ability to see details at close range and details at a distance (either naturally or with correction) and distinguish colors.

• May work outside and exposed to weather.
• Wear protective or safety equipment, i.e. safety boots/shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats.
• May be exposed to high levels of noise, grease, dust, and a variety of substances that are typically associated with a construction site.
• Work in dusty or dirty surroundings.
