We operate 50+ nationwide service centers offering accident repair, painting, refurbishment, and heavy mechanical repair, supported by a 24/7 in-house call center. We provide scheduled maintenance services and unscheduled services to fleets anywhere, anytime.

We are currently hiring a Sr. Shop Diesel Technician to join our team to support future growth. The Sr. Shop Diesel Technician will perform licensed DOT inspections, preventive maintenance inspections, light and advanced repairs, and advanced mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics. This role heavily relies on advanced diagnostics and triage of complex repairs, under the supervision of Shop Diesel Technician I/II. A successful Sr.

Shop Diesel Technician complies with all company policies and achieves high level performance metrics.

Responsibilities
  • Always follow and comply with safe operating practices and procedures.
  • Independently determine parts required for each job and interact with the Shop Parts Department to obtain them.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment; assist in cleanup at the end of each day for tools, parts, and equipment.
  • Apply knowledge from formal training or on-the-job experience to perform duties; evaluate technical information related to the job.
  • Work with Service Writer to assess customer needs and provide information or assistance to resolve problems or meet expectations.
  • Manage concurrent tasks, prioritize work activities and time allocations.
  • Act with integrity, demonstrate honesty, and keep commitments; maintain confidentiality and ethical standards.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles in a shop environment.
  • Occasionally travel and perform work at customer locations.
  • Perform routine maintenance (e.g., oil changes, battery checks, lubrication).
  • Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts and jacks.
  • Document work according to company standards and upload pictures of work performed, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders using the company device and/or Karmak application.
  • Accurately complete DOT forms and all other documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain a high level of productivity and operate within standard repair times where possible.
  • Communicate with Shop Manager and support team to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers, and discuss RO findings.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety, health, environmental policies, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
  • Complete all-in company required safety training.
  • Maintain shop-assigned service trucks, conduct safety checks, and perform daily pre/post trip inspections.
  • Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various truck systems (electrical, brakes, cooling, starters/alternators, fuel systems, engine electronics, etc.).
  • Adhere to company policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment across listed systems and components.
  • Identify problems, evaluate information, and generate/assess alternatives with sound judgment.
  • Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments.
  • Assist Shop Diesel Technician I with diagnostics and with obtaining correct parts for each job.
  • Advise Shop Diesel Technicians I & II on technical issues and support advanced diagnostics and triage of complex repairs.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED and 5 years' related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g., degree/certification beyond HS with 3 years' experience; or 7 years' related experience).
  • Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required duties.
  • Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.
  • Must be at least 21 years old due to interstate operating authority requirements.
