Mechanical Installation Technician

Job Overview

A Mechanical Installation Technician for Bastian Solutions is a hands‑on position focusing on the mechanical installations of large‑ and small‑scale conveyor, robotic, automation, and commercial mechanical systems. In this position you will learn and perform duties and tasks assigned to you daily. This position requires continuous travel to client sites for the installation of material handling systems.

Travel: up to 90% of the time. Sites from 4 weeks to several months depending on the project.

• Safely complete daily tasks assigned by site leadership in a timely manner and to desired expectations and outcomes.
• Perform or assist in mechanical installation work under direct supervision of a more senior installer, such as a lead or supervisor.
• Learn how to handle basic issues and troubleshoot a system.
• Learn or increase knowledge of basic installation and site safety requirements.
• Learn proper hardware usage.
• Assist in and learn installation methods.
• Learn troubleshooting methods and techniques.
• Apply learned skills to job duties.
• Assist more senior personnel in electrical installations, connections, and terminations under close supervision.
• Perform other project‑related duties and assignments as instructed by a supervisor or more senior employee.
• Escalate higher‑level concerns to a supervisor.

• High School Diploma required;
  Technical Associate’s Degree or equivalent certification preferred.
• At least 2 years of experience in an industrial setting doing installation or maintenance.
• Experience in material handling, robotics, manufacturing or packaging preferred.
• Experience and/or education in basic equipment installation, subcontractor management, site safety requirements, and customer interaction preferred.
• Must be literate with MS Office software suite (particularly Word and Excel).
• AutoCAD and MS Project experience preferred.
• Must be comfortable working on contemporary industrial control systems.
• Ability to travel up to 90% domestic or internationally of the time to customer sites.
