Multi-Family HVAC Superintendent - Indianapolis, IN
KEP is seeking an experienced Multi-Family HVAC Superintendent to lead field operations for new construction and renovation projects throughout the Indianapolis area. This position oversees HVAC foremen and field crews, ensuring high-quality installations, adherence to project schedules, safety compliance, and a strong culture of training, accountability, and performance across multi-family residential construction projects.
Key Responsibilities Project Oversight- Coordinate and manage multi-family HVAC construction projects through assigned foremen.
- Plan workforce needs and allocate manpower efficiently to meet construction schedules.
- Collaborate with project managers, general contractors, and other trades to maintain project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Ensure all field drawings, specifications, and installation documents are accurate and up to date.
- Monitor project progress and proactively identify and resolve installation or scheduling issues.
- Supervise HVAC foremen and installation crews to ensure productivity, safety, and quality goals are met.
- Review daily job reports, site inspections, and progress updates to maintain consistent quality control.
- Attend weekly coordination and production meetings to align project progress and manpower planning.
- Resolve field-related challenges, including manpower conflicts, scheduling adjustments, coordination issues, and trade interactions.
- Lead training initiatives for HVAC installation best practices and field leadership development.
- Help develop skill assessments and employee onboarding evaluations for field staff.
- Partner with the training team to enhance technical training materials and job site procedures.
- Coach, mentor, and evaluate team members to build strong, high-performing crews.
- Ensure all job sites meet company safety policies, OSHA standards, and customer requirements.
- Foster a positive, safety-first culture across all field teams.
- Conduct regular safety observations and reinforce compliance with PPE and safe work practices.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support company operations and project success.

Minimum Years Of Experience4-6
Qualifications Specific Qualifications Education & Experience- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 5 years of HVAC field experience, including at least 3-5 years in a supervisory, foreman, superintendent, or field leadership role.
- Experience managing HVAC installations for multi-family residential, apartment, condominium, townhome, or mixed-use construction projects preferred.
- Proven ability to manage manpower planning, scheduling, installation quality, and field productivity across multiple projects.
- Strong knowledge of multi-family HVAC systems, materials, installation methods, and construction practices.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical plans, specifications, and project documentation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to effectively coordinate with project managers, general contractors, subcontractors, and field personnel.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Clean driving record meeting company insurance requirements.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background screening and any other screenings required by company policy.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and work in active construction environments for extended periods.
- Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, stairs, and access rooftops, mechanical rooms, attics, and confined spaces as needed.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and mobile technology devices.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions and temperatures.
- Ability to visually inspect installations and identify workmanship, safety, or code compliance issues.
- Frequent travel to project sites throughout the assigned territory.
- Flexibility to work non-standard hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, or extended shifts as project demands require.
