Location: Indianapolis
Position Summary
The Laborer supports field crews in the installation and maintenance of telecommunications infrastructure, including fiber optic cable, conduit, and aerial or underground systems. This entry-level role assists with site preparation, material handling, and general construction tasks to ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with installation of fiber optic cable, conduit, and telecommunications equipment.
- Perform general labor tasks: digging, trenching, back filling, and site restoration.
- Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment.
- Safely operate basic hand tools and power tools.
- Assist directional drill, aerial, or underground crews as needed.
- Set up traffic control devices and help maintain a safe work zone.
- Clean job sites and ensure proper restoration.
- Follow OSHA and always company safety guidelines.
- Support crew leads and supervisors with daily tasks and production goals.
- Prior construction or outdoor labor experience preferred, not required
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds regularly
- Basic mechanical aptitude
- Valid driver's license preferred
- CDL a plus (or willingness to obtain)
- Telecom, fiber optic, or utility construction
- Experience working around underground utilities
- Familiarity with hand digging and trenching
- Experience setting up traffic control
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team
- Safety-focused mindset
- Ability to work long hours and overtime when required
