Summary: This position is primarily responsible for performing installs, repairs and maintenance on a variety of equipment including refrigeration, air conditioning, electric motors, heating units, heat pumps, hermetic compressors, light commercial furnaces, boilers, burners, intake and exhaust fans, economizers and humidifiers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Install, repair, adjust, maintain and troubleshoot hermetic compressors, heat pumps up to 5‑ton, split and packaged units up to 5‑ton, ductless splits, electric motors (3‑phase and 1‑phase), electric motor controls (contractors, starters, relays, disconnect, thermostats), light commercial furnaces, boilers, burners (oil and gas), water pumps, intake and exhaust fans, unit heaters (hot water, steam, electric), economizers, and humidifiers.
- Perform soldering, brazing, basic heat load and heat‑loss calculations.
- Build client confidence in the company and provide information on training needs.
- Prepare daily parts and tools, coordinate with dispatcher for tool usage, and maintain tools in a professional manner.
- Diagnose refrigeration and heating systems: understand components, perform basic calculations, use manifold gauge sets, pressure/temperature charts, and temperature measuring devices; conduct refrigeration recovery, evacuation, charging; apply basic electrical theory including AC/DC currents, single or three‑phase circuits, wiring diagrams, Ohm’s law, and use multimeters to troubleshoot basic circuits.
- Treat air to control temperature, humidity, and distribution; read and understand mechanical drawings.
- Knowledge of automotive facilities and UAW union experience.

Must have an Apprentice License and EPA Certification and trade‑related work experience (or a similar combination of education and experience). Must have a high school diploma or equivalent GED certificate.
